On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, we co-hosted the “International Workshop 2025 on Measures for Volcanic Disaster Mitigation: Learning Volcanic Disaster Prevention from Iceland” with the Mount Fuji Research Institute, Yamanashi Prefectural Government.
Three experts from the University of Iceland, the Icelandic Meteorological Office, and the National Protection and Crisis Management Agency delivered presentations on volcanic monitoring, prediction, and disaster response. Knowledge sharing was advanced through presentations on Japanese initiatives and a panel discussion.
This event provided a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the importance of international collaboration in mitigating volcanic disasters.
