The 5th Field Camp of the Asian Consortium of Volcanology was held on March 13-16, 2023 in Izu Oshima, Japan (see here for details). The Asian Consortium of Volcanology was established to promote volcanology and volcanic disaster mitigation in the Asian region; since 2014, field camps have been held regularly in various Asian countries, but were forced to be suspended for the last three years due to COVID-19.

A total of 28 students and researchers from Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan participated in lectures and exercises on volcanology. Poster presentations by the participants and a field trip to Izu Oshima were also conducted, and lively discussions were exchanged.
