On August 26 and 27, 2023, we conducted a climber dynamic data acquisition experiment and a situation-sharing experiment at Mt. Ontake (“Mt. Ontake Challenge 2023”).
In the experiment, small beacons were distributed to a total of 843 climbers over the two-day period, and dynamic data of the climbers with beacons was acquired using receivers installed on the trail and other locations in advance. We also used a viewer to visualize the acquired data on a web map in real-time and exchanged opinions with local government officials.
The acquired data will mainly be used to improve evacuation drills and revise evacuation plans.
